This one-day professional development training provides new Counsellors/Advocates with the foundational and advance knowledge, skills and insights needed to conduct a comprehensive assessment and case formulation for individuals from refugee background who have experienced torture and other traumatic events.
By participating in this professional development, practitioners will be able to:
- Understand and apply the VFST’s approach to comprehensive assessment;
- Identify and understand the key areas to be assessed considering the client’s developmental needs and cultural perspectives using a bio-psychosocial approach;
- Integrate complex information from the comprehensive assessment process to address the client’s therapeutic needs; and
- Develop a case formulation to inform the selection of relevant evidence-informed interventions.
Please note this session is for new Counsellors/Advocates and those that missed this session in 2019.
